If you've developed symptoms of Lyme disease, it’s important to see your GP promptly and take photos of any rashes before they fade, as these can aid diagnosis. This at-home blood test may support the investigation by detecting antibodies that typically develop two to six weeks after infection.

Please note: Lyme disease can only be diagnosed by a healthcare professional, based on your medical history, symptoms, and a physical examination.

What does the test check for?

Immunity

Borrelia burgdorferi IgM
IgM antibodies are the body's initial immune response following infection with Borrelia burgdorferi — the bacterium that causes Lyme disease. These antibodies are produced shortly after being bitten by an infected tick.

Borrelia burgdorferi IgG
IgG antibodies appear several weeks after infection with Borrelia burgdorferi. Their presence indicates a longer-standing immune response and may suggest a past or ongoing infection. Lyme disease is caused when a person is bitten by a tick carrying this bacterium.
